Exaclan Battle Manual
SO YOU WANNA BE AN EXACLAN MASTER?
A BASIC GUIDE FOR PLAYERS
Step 1.
FIND A WEAPON. Check the list of Discards on the Exaclan boards, or just ask around to see which Weapons aren’t spoken for. See if any of your friends are still looking for an owner. Once you’ve found one, offer the vow ("I vow to own and protect you") and join forces.
Step 2.
So you have your Weapon! Now you should check their stats. What is their weapon form? Is it ranged or melee? Can you use it properly? What Rings are they using? Your Weapon will know more about their form than you do, so try asking them about past battles – that can say a lot about their strengths and weaknesses.
Remember: if the Weapon doesn’t suit your style or seems weak, you can still Discard them again and keep looking. You also have the right to equip or de-equip their Rings as you see fit. Make sure their stats are optimised for you.
Step 3.
You’ve got your Weapon, and you’re now vaguely familiar with it. The next thing to do is: find an opponent. All students participating in the round will be wearing their Player’s glove, making it easy to identify those looking for a battle. See what Weapons they have with them - are they ones you recognise? Try and find a player at your level. Once you’ve approached them, state your challenge clearly – or answer their challenge, if you are the one approached – to start an official Exaclan battle.
Step 4.
Battle is joined! Immediately place your gloved hand against your Weapon’s skin, and draw their weapon form. This can be a painful process for Weapons, so supporting them during the drawing process is recommended but not obligatory.
Step 5.
Fight as you would in a real battle. Although you cannot be physically hurt whilst in an official battle, the pain is very real and often enhanced by Rings. You should also remember that your Weapon feels any hit taken by their battle form; avoid letting it take too much damage as, once it breaks, your Weapon will lose consciousness and be unable to take any further part in the battle.
The aim is to damage your opponent until they are unconscious or disabled; however, their forfeit will also count as a victory in your favour. Whether you win or lose, the battle will come to an end once one or both of the participants is unable to fight.
Step 6.
If you are the victor, your opponent's Weapon will be transferred to you immediately after the end of the battle session. You are not obliged to keep this new Weapon or use them in battles, and can Discard them immediately if obtaining them wasn't an aim. You will also gain one token for winning.
If you were defeated, you will lose the Weapon you wielded in the battle. If they were your only possession, return to Step 1. If you have multiple Weapons, try to be more careful with them in the future.
Win or lose, you will receive one token for every five battles you take part in..
